What Base offers depends on your address. In many power-to-choose areas across Texas, you can choose Base Backup + Energy, which pairs a home battery with electricity service, or Base Energy if you just want an energy plan. Both come with a fixed, low energy rate to keep your costs predictable. In other areas, we work with utility partners who offer a battery program through your existing utility, so your energy provider doesn't change. When your plan includes a battery (from 39.2 kWh to 78.4 kWh), it helps balance the grid, charging when demand is low and sending power back when the grid needs support. During an outage it automatically powers your home, usually without you noticing the switch. Our current battery system protects against 97% of outages. Base's shared business model is what sets it apart. Base earns income from the power grid instead of from members. That's how you can get whole-home backup without paying for an expensive traditional generator, or the massive upfront investment of a solar system and battery that can take longer to pay back than it lasts. With Base, you pay just a one-time installation cost for the team of electricians who install your battery. Because revenue comes from the grid, not from members, Base avoids hidden fees and surprise rate hikes. And where Base is your energy provider, your agreement legally guarantees your rates stay below the market average.

Base has a referral program, and members are a big part of how word spreads and more neighborhoods get involved.

Refer a friend and you both earn a reward when they get set up with Base. For most members that's a free month of power, or a bill credit if you have solar. Rewards can vary by area and plan.

This approach optimizes the Base battery for both grid stability and outage protection. When the grid is functioning, Base uses its batteries to support grid balancing. This strengthens the grid's resilience and generates income for Base. By leveraging its network of batteries for grid balancing, Base maintains low rates for members while remaining profitable.
