Power, with backup built in.
Here’s how it works.

Base Power is more than just affordable power. Backup batteries protect Texans from blackouts and keep your family protected.

Running on grid
Running off grid
When the grid’s up, you’re saving money.
Base gives you a low fixed rate locked in for 3 years.

On renewal, your rate’s legally guaranteed to be below market average.
8.5¢/kWh + delivery fees
The battery is what makes Base, Base.
It gives you seamless, automatic backup during outages and helps stabilize the grid when there's no outage.
Switches over in under 1 second | Up to 48 hours with reduced energy use | Whole-home protection
Your battery shifts with the grid.
It charges when energy is cheap—like overnight—and may share some power back when the grid is stressed. That’s how we help stabilize the system and keep your costs low.

So if your charge level isn’t always full, that’s expected.
We always keep backup in reserve.
Your battery charge will fluctuate, but it rarely drops to the minimum of 5 hours (1 battery), or 10 hours (2 batteries).

We monitor weather and forecast outages so we can protect your backup—keeping you powered for as long as possible.
We’re always watching for shifting conditions.
Even on quiet nights, our systems are analyzing the grid, the weather, and your battery’s charge level. When signs of trouble start to build (even subtly), we adjust how your battery is managed, making sure your home is as prepared as possible for whatever’s coming.
When the grid goes down, your battery takes over.
Your backup kicks in, usually under half a second. You might not even notice.

A single battery lasts up to 24 hours at reduced power consumption—two batteries can last up to 48 hours.

So, what happens next?

Step 1
See if Base is a fit for your home.
You can talk with one of our energy advisors, or take your time exploring (you’re already in the right place).

When you're ready, enter your address to check your home's eligibility and next steps.
REQUEST YOUR CONFIGURATION
Step 2
We’ll review your setup.
Our engineers will confirm whether your home qualifies—and if so, for how many batteries (0, 1, or 2).

From there, we’ll handle all the paperwork and logistics.
SCHEDULE YOUR INSTALLATION
Step 3
Installation day. We’ve got it covered.
Most installations take about 5 hours, with just a couple hours of downtime. We’ll place your battery outside near your meter on an A/C pad.

After that, your home is backed up, connected, and ready for whatever comes next.
Peace of Mind.

I am impressed by Base's use of technology to manage our power and thereby save me money. Their app is very useful and will developed. Knowing that I have battery backup is a welcome addition - and the price is right. They have always responded to all comments in a timely fashion and their public announcements are very useful and informative. Fortunately I have not had - yet - had to rely on the battery, but that demonstrates to me that in spite of all the horrible weather we have had, I can rely on maintaining the poser I would need should it becomes necessary.

Great Install and Product Thanks….

We sweat the details, so you don't have to

Paperwork and power companies

We coordinate everything with your utility (Oncor or CenterPoint) to make sure you're all squared away. We'll even switch you over from your current electricity provider and cover up to $250 in any cancellation fees.

Built to be flexible, even if you move

Your energy rate is locked in for 3 years, and the battery agreement lasts 12. If the new homeowner signs up for Base, everything transfers easily. If not, we’ll remove the system for a flat $500—no matter when you move.

Installed for your home, not just any home.

We find a clean, code-compliant spot for your system close to your electric meter, and install a soft start if needed to support larger HVAC systems. Every install is tailored with care, based on what works best for your home and the National Electric Code.

We're happy to answer all your questions

What is Base? How does it work?

Base is your energy provider and backup power provider in one.

We install a large battery (from 25 kWh to 50 kWh) at your home for a low upfront cost. You get power from us at competitive rates because our batteries help balance the grid—charging when demand is low discharging when the grid needs support. When the power goes out, your battery automatically kicks in to keep your home running. Our current system protects against 97% of outages.

How much does Base cost? How much will I pay for energy?

To get with Base, you pay a $50 refundable deposit upfront. This deposit applies toward your one-time installation cost once your battery is installed.

Installation Costs

  • Installation fee: $695 or $995 (varies by zip code and plan)
  • Your $50 deposit will be credited toward this fee

Ongoing Costs

Membership Fee

  • $19/mo or $29/mo, depending on your plan

Monthly Energy Bills

  • Energy rate: 8.5¢/kWh plus your utility’s transmission and delivery fees
  • If you have solar panels, Base buys back any excess energy you produce at:
    • 4¢/kWh

Why is Base significantly less expensive than alternatives?

Base offers a significantly less expensive backup battery solution compared to alternatives due to the unique shared business model: Base earns income from the power grid instead of homeowners.

This business model allows you to get energy backup without paying tens of thousands of dollars for a traditional generator. An expensive solar system and solar battery also requires a massive upfront investment which often can take longer than the lifespan of the system to pay back. With Base, you pay just a one-time installation cost that pays the team of electricians to install the battery on your home.

Base offers fair, fixed rates and reliable backup power. Since revenue comes from the grid, not customers, Base avoids hidden fees and surprise rate hikes. Your agreement also legally guarantees your rates stay below the market average.

Does Base require solar?

No, you don’t need solar to use our batteries. You don’t need solar to use Base because the batteries are designed to store energy directly from the grid. This allows you to access reliable backup power and lower energy costs without relying on solar panels.

That said, if you already have solar, Base works seamlessly with it. Plus, you can always add solar later—our batteries are designed to easily integrate with solar systems. And Base offers competitive solar buyback prices.

Savings on your power bill.
Protection against outages.
Peace of mind for both.
