When I met my co-founder Justin Lopas, he'd just spent years building rockets at SpaceX and leading manufacturing at Anduril. The team we've built around us launched satellite constellations and engineered the first electric vehicles at scale. They came here because energy is the next problem to solve this country. Base Energy is priced as an all-in rate per kWh. Your exact price depends on your utility area (Oncor, CenterPoint, etc.) because delivery charges vary by utility. On the plan card, you’ll see the all-in rate shown at a standard usage level, plus the underlying Base energy charge and delivery charges that make it up.
No. Base Energy is an electricity plan you can enroll in without any hardware. The Base battery is a separate offering. Base Energy is currently a limited, select offering in certain Texas areas, and we’ll show you availability after you enter your address.
Most energy providers in Texas win on complexity: teaser rates, bill credits that only “work” at one usage level, and plan menus that are hard to compare.
Base Energy is built around one straightforward plan with clear terms and simple billing, so you can switch once and stop thinking about it.
That’s common. You can still switch to Base Energy. If your current provider charges an early termination fee, we’ll cover up to $150 to help you switch. Sign up first, then send us your final bill showing the fee and we’ll take care of it (up to the coverage limit).
