Cut your costs, not your power

What would cost you $18,000+ is $695
When the power’s out, thousands of Base members stay up and running.
Base’s solution works for Texas homes and the grid
Base's shared model provides homeowners with affordable backup power by offering home batteries for just $695 upfront, as Base earns from the grid, not from members.

Send a few photos of your home. Our engineers will determine which Base battery configuration is best for you.

From permits to installation, we take care of all the details. Our expert crew has decades of electrical experience.

Base is your energy provider and backup power provider in one.
We install a large battery (from 25 kWh to 50 kWh) at your home for a low upfront cost. You get power from us at competitive rates because our batteries help balance the grid—charging when demand is low discharging when the grid needs support. When the power goes out, your battery automatically kicks in to keep your home running. Our current system protects against 97% of outages.
To get with Base, you pay a $50 refundable deposit upfront. This deposit applies toward your one-time installation cost once your battery is installed.
Installation Costs
- Installation fee: $695 or $995 (varies by zip code and plan)
- Your $50 deposit will be credited toward this fee
Ongoing Costs

Base offers a significantly less expensive backup battery solution compared to alternatives due to the unique shared business model: Base earns income from the power grid instead of homeowners.
This business model allows you to get energy backup without paying tens of thousands of dollars for a traditional generator. An expensive solar system and solar battery also requires a massive upfront investment which often can take longer than the lifespan of the system to pay back. With Base, you pay just a one-time installation cost that pays the team of electricians to install the battery on your home.
Base offers fair, fixed rates and reliable backup power. Since revenue comes from the grid, not customers, Base avoids hidden fees and surprise rate hikes. Your agreement also legally guarantees your rates stay below the market average.
Your rights in a Texas HOA
You don't need HOA approval. The State of Texas passed Property Code §202.010 allowing for those in HOAs to install “Solar Energy Devices” (as defined in Tax Code §171.107), which include batteries like Base. As such, you are entitled to the right to have the Base system installed.
Permits & location
Base manages all permitting creation, submission, and inspection with local cities and utilities. Hardware is installed near the electric meter along an exterior wall. No changes are made to the roof or front face of the home. You can read more about our electrical and spacing requirements that determine battery location here.
Permit submission documentation is available on request, and a sample is here.
Specs
The specs for Base batteries can be found here:
Safety & certification
- Hardware is certified to UL standards: the ‘gold standard’ of electrical system safety. This means it has gone through a rigorous set of safety tests prior to being built, plus each individual system is tested prior to installation.
- Our electricians are licensed, bonded, and insured. All electricians work under a Master Electrician.
- Our batteries use Lithium Iron Phosphate technology, which is far safer than other batteries by design, including being much safer than the batteries in most EVs, phones, and laptops.
- Base batteries have active fire suppressants built into them. If the battery detects a fault, airbags of fire suppressant pop inside the battery, significantly reducing the likelihood of a fire spreading if one were to start.
Yes! Base has a strong referral program. Base members are essential for spreading the word about Base and getting more neighborhoods involved.
Existing members can send friends, family, neighbors, or strangers their personal referral link, which you can access in your Base account.
Refer a friend and you both will receive a free month of power (up to $250) when their battery is installed.
Base operates differently from traditional power companies. Instead of profiting directly from customers, Base earns revenue by using grid-balancing software paired with outage prediction technology. This approach optimizes the Base battery for both grid stability and outage protection.
When the grid is functioning, Base uses its batteries to support grid balancing. This strengthens the grid’s resilience and generates income for Base. By leveraging its network of batteries for grid balancing, Base maintains low rates for members while remaining profitable.
